Beer Guy: The mediocre. The familiar. The quotidian.

In our more self-consciously human moments we scorn these concepts. We try to transcend these notions that tie us to our base, material existence, and we seek finer essences that remind us of our divine qualities as thinking beings. Thus we (Man, not me or you personally) create Art, making something that is not of this world; something irreducible and immortal that edifies our being in relation to the metaphysical world of concepts and ideas. This is article is not about Art. This article is about Beer.

Booze Guy: Little Water (or: why didn't the Irish invent vodka)

Luksusowa (that’s pronounced “look-so-sova”) is a Polish vodka that is actually made from potatoes. Contrary to popular belief, vodka was not invented in Russia, but in Poland. In fact (or so I am told) the word Vodka is a diminuitive variation on the polish word “woda”, which means “water”.

Booze Guy: The Czar and the Milk of Human Kindness

by

Welcome gentle reader to the first installment of this author’s libations reviews. We begin the series with a drink that has its roots in the anti-Bolshevik factions of the Russian Civil War of 1918-1922, the classic White Russian. The traditional mixture of this traditional tincture calls for 1 part vodka, 1 part Liqueur de Café, and two parts milk, on the rocks, and that is how they were made for this review.

Beerguy: Beer in the Time of Zombies

by

It’s happened to all of us at some time in our lives. We’re star-gazing on our porches, parking at Makeout Overlook, or trying to find our kitty-cats in our dark backyards, and it dawns on us: We are completely unprepared for the zombie pandemic! If the lurching undead came stumbling around the corner and we had to run for our lives, few of us would have any idea how to reconstruct society, let alone make it to that remote army bunker where some semblance of order prevails. Could we sow and reap the necessary crops? Could we maintain our ramshackle fleet of armored motorcycles? Could we build a facility with good, sterile technique that would allow us to perform the complicated childbirths that our fledgling community would require?

Recipe: I'm angry when I cook. (Chocolate chip cookies)

Ryan received this recipe from his great grandmother, and dictates it back to us in all its glory. The fact is, she was an asskicker from Philly, so who really knows the level of profainty that was involved…the truth is that his cookies are worth the insults, so give them a try. Then again, if you are a little baby, extra sensitive, or think the internet is anything more than a bunch of idiots with computers…what am I talking about? The cookies are good.

Soup Nazi: Pozole (White boy remix)

What in the flaming assclown is pozole?
1) Traditional Mexican Pork and Hominy soup.
2) Potentially very time-consuming, and worth every single second spent. Bla Bla Bla.
d) Rad.

Contest: What is that food thing?

Guess what it is. You will get something very cool in return. I lied, it will probably suck, and may very well be a PS2 game that you will never want to play. On the other hand, who knows, it could end up being Mario Golf. Or a candle. Or a bag of flaming turds on your doorstep. Any way you cut it, you’ll be glad to get something in the mail (or paper bag, as matters may dictate.)

Soup Nazi: Evil Minestrone

This traditional Italian vegetable soup is rarely anything short of fantastically delicious, and this version (mom taught me) is easy, tastes great, and feeds like, 10 people at least. It’s a little on the expensive side, but it’s definitely worth it. Evil, why? I don’t know. But it sure tastes good.
