Since last December, I’ve spent the last half-hour of each Sunday night lying in bed, listening to my computer speakers with a big grin on my face. Why am I so content, you ask? Well, it’s not the joy of going back to work on Monday. No! Yes, yes, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang sounds, from its title, like a particularly witless soft-core porn movie, the kind of seventies “art house erotica” flick that told you nothing from its name save that it was some kind of fuck fest. No other movie titles tried so hard to say so little. Really, what the hell does I Am Curious, Yellow mean? Or Behind the Green Door? Thank God for the plaintalk revolution that gave us Debbie Does Dallas, so that we’d no longer have to squint at skinless Eric Rohmer flicks, wondering when the money shot would come.
